Abstract
The climate crisis and the emergence of new technologies are profoundly changing the configuration of the electricity industry and the way its participants relate to each other. This scenario especially affects the traditional energy retail markets, where new technologies have led to the appearance of multiple innovative business models that did not exist until a few years ago. Thus, this paper aims to guide the regulation of the new national retail electricity market by reviewing the evolution and current situation of the regulation of this segment in our industry, and addressing the regulatory performance of the british experienced and dynamic retail sector.
