Analysis of Citizen Education in the Curriculum of the Eleventh and Twelfth Grade

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the Citizen Education subject recently incorporated into the Curricular Bases of the third and fourth year of high school. To achieve this purpose, we proceed, first, to specify the characteristics that the subject assumes; highlighting the objectives it tries to achieve, the values principles and the approaches that guide it. The analysis itself has been organized around: a) Matrix that relates citizen thematic categories and the Learning Objectives that the subject proposes b) Respond to which of Citizenship Paradigm (liberal or communitarian) is ascribed the Citizen Education subject c) Identify in which curricular conception the Curricular Bases are situated and consequently the Citizen Education subject d) Examine the ethical-political stance of Citizen Education at the Curriculum Bases
